Evidence-based dementia care techniques have been demonstrated to enhance the quality of life for both those with dementia and those providing their care. Families wishing to support their loved ones with progressive cognitive impairment within their home often must piece together an array of supports. Some have family members and neighbors/friends who can perform a portion of the care, but others do not. Professional caregivers are often needed to augment the efforts of family caregivers in whole or in part, but the skill of those professional caregivers can be a hit-or-miss thing. There are experts in dementia care who provide coaching on communication techniques, activities and other useful approaches, but it can be difficult to implement their recommendations among multiple caregivers.
In place of this disjointed patchwork of in-home services, Ms. Boiardi presents a service model in which an experienced and highly trained dementia care practitioner is teamed with trained professional caregivers to provide a robust support program for families wishing to keep loved ones at home.
Space is limited so please R.S.V.P. for our Lunch and Learn no later than 5:00pm Thursday, September 15, 2016.
We hope you will join us.
